I suppose it could be connected to one of those 3-pin plug/timer devices which will probably save more electricity than a built-in electronic timer. So far the only negative is the lack of a timer. MP3 sound/music and AVI video is also supported. I put in a USB card chock full of 2048x1536 pictures and it dealt with them no problem, quite nippy too. Picture quality seems to be pretty good, but I won't be able to tell for sure until the plastic film covering the screen is removed by my parents! It supports XD Card which is nice as some mad fool bought my mum a Fujifilm camera so she can plug her memory storage straight into the frame. Ordered mine last night and it arrived 20 minutes ago - pretty impressed with the delivery if nothing else! So far mine seems fine - no buzzing with the backlight down low or even off. Edit Just had another play & it's definitely going back. Seems to me that these devices are all built down to a price rather than up to decent resolution, aesthetics AND functions. Still undecided on whether to keep the one I bought for my parents or return it. The device is a bit utilitarian in appearance (IMO) & a large proportion of them suffer from an internal buzz when the screen brightness is reduced. It's plus points are relatively high res (although it's only 800 x 600) & 4:3 aspect ratio which will match most compacts. What is the slowest slideshow setting (time between picture change)? Does it have a timer, so you can set it to go on and off at certain times of the day?Ĭan the screen work from a battery (so people can look while passing it around at xmas)? No battery or option for one. It's a fairly decent price at £99 (I was prepared to go up to about £200) but I can't find any reviews for it anywhere so if anyone has bought one I'd be interested to know what you think of it! What is the real diagonal size of the screen? 4:3 ratio with an 8' diagonal. I originally wanted a WiFi enabled device but they seem to be somewhat problematic and best avoided, and it seems that 800圆00 4:3 screens are the ones to go for, so what do people think of the Jessops 8' 800圆00 photo frame? I've left it a bit late, but I've finally decided to get my parents a digital photo frame for Christmas.
